Winning Eleven 9 (PS2)

        - The newest galactico strolls into town.

Replay Value/Longevity 95/100

Blah. It’s Winning Eleven, so despite the pathetically small selection of teams and leagues, it’s got more depth than any other sports game available. Throw in multiplayer and you’ve got a game you’ll be playing for months to come.

Overall 90/100

Well, if you’ve read this far I have to give you my thanks. As for the game, well what more can I say? You know, a part of me wanted WE9 to be a bust – I was very happy with WE8:LE and would have preferred to have been writing a scathing diatribe about WE9 rather than the customary and shameless rim-job I give to new KCET’s games. Unfortunately (er….I mean fortunately), despite the relative lack of teams and leagues compared to Fifa, Winning Eleven 9 blew me away and KCET have once again raised the bar for realistic gameplay in a football title. More than ever you feel like you’re playing a simulation of the beautiful game rather than an interpretation of it.

[Special thanks to Fernando for his fantastic and timely Winning Eleven language patches – without which this review would not be possible]
